I’ve been exploring the potential of Ai video and collaborating with a few other artists. The results are sometimes very good and other times “interesting” and sometimes very comical.
This one was done in collaboration with Reta Rickmers, an artist in California. I like her work a lot. She often does paintings of birds and interesting doors. She allowed me to take this painting and create a short video. We both like the way it turned out:
In this next one, I decided to do a video of myself feeding one of our rescue cats. It turned out very strange, with the cat vomiting and me inadvertently flashing the Vulcan sign for “Live Long and Prosper.”
I did a second video with Reta and added a voice meant to be indicative of the fox’s personality. It seems to work pretty well and we both like the end result.
This next one, I think I finally got one of these near perfect for what these are. I’m experimenting with my art and prompts. I did the painting from a sketch originally done at the Tate Modern in London. These kids were ignoring the Miro Exhibit and completely engaged in their electronic devices.
Pretty cool to see your art come to life! The “prompt” was very simple, as was the prompt in this next piece. But the result in the next piece was unexpected in that the motion of the woman’s skirt was so elaborate. It has a real flourish. The piece of art was originally done from a photo I took from a train in Portugal on my way from Lisboa to Portimão.
Love that swirl of her dress! This next one is a collaboration with Norm Ellis, who does these exquisite pencil renderings. This Ai video turned out pretty nice - reflecting his pencil work as the Snow Leopard turns and adding eyes and a mouth that seem very appropriate.
This last one I’m posting today is another example of my art coming to life. This was an original watercolour, done from a photo taken in Chichicastenango, Guatemala. There is a secondhand store across from the cemetery and a well-dressed man was standing there, rolling his own cigarette. I particularly liked the mood that the colours I used evoked. “Ambiance” I think is the right term. The prompt was simple and well executed.
That’s it for this week. My Art Life has taken a new direction - Ai Generated Video that brings art to life. Thanks to Reta Rickmers & Norm Ellis for participating in my experimentation!
The next post that you will receive from me will be the first chapter in my new book, The Cat Chronicles. You can see some of the characters from the book in the header on this email. You’ll meet Max, Marmalade and Mars as they plan to rescue Arthur from the clutches of the evil President Glump and his looney sidekick, Neon Moneylust, who live on the planet formerly known as the “Orange Planet”. The adventure begins this Friday, February 7th!
Consider being a Paid subscriber. It is only $30 a year and all the money goes to house and feed the 50 animals currently at the Accidental Animal Rescue Center run by Phil & Anastasia.
